Dr. Porter is a native of Auburn, Alabama. She obtained a BS in biochemistry at Auburn University before attending medical school at the University of South Alabama. She did residency and fellowship training while serving in the United States Air Force. She received Internal Medicine training at Wright Patterson AFB in Dayton, OH, then Pulmonary/Critical Care fellowship at National Naval Medical Center and Walter Reed Army Medical Centers in Washington DC. While serving in the Air Force she deployed as a Flight Surgeon and was also Chief of Pulmonary Medicine at Wright Patterson AFB. Dr. Porter has a son and daughter, who are twins. She enjoys reading and sewing.
